SUSTAINABLE WEDDING

Sustainable weddings are more important than ever.
As wedding planners, we have a duty to guide couples towards eco-friendly choices. Don’t stress about making every detail sustainable from A-Z; that’s unrealistic. But conscious choices in a few areas can make a difference. You’ll still have a fantastic wedding, and no one will miss that balloon garland at the cake table.

Here are some tips divided into five categories, from which you can surely pick 1-2 easy-to-implement ideas.

Decoration

Rent before you buy. There are now many rental companies offering everything from Boho to Vintage for weddings. Flea markets can also be a treasure trove. A bit of upcycling turns water bottles into beautiful candle holders. As wedding planners, we often have DIY sessions where we enhance previously used decor items to fit new couples‘ design concepts. Did you know that seating crates often can’t be reused and end up in the trash quickly? It’s better to rent beautiful wooden chairs that work well even without cushions.

Presents

Feel free to mention in your invitation that you’re prioritizing sustainability at your wedding and would appreciate guests not using gift wrap. A small box for envelopes will be provided.

Floristry

Dried flowers are a current trend and are indispensable in any living room. They’re also becoming increasingly popular at weddings.

After your wedding, you can continue to use the dried flowers or give them to guests as favors.
If you can’t do without fresh flowers, make sure they’re not from distant greenhouses.

Some florists are also using sustainable alternatives to floral foam, which is harmful to the environment. We can help connect you with them. Jewelry or wall art made from your dried bouquet is not only a wonderful memento of the day but also incredibly sustainable.

Food Selection

There are already many great caterers who pay special attention to using local products. Try to book a local caterer to keep transportation distances short. A great idea is to set up the leftovers later at the party. A little homemade bread and exotic dips can serve as a backup for hungry guests, ensuring that there’s definitely something available and everyone can party into the night.

Vendor Selection

In general, when choosing the right service provider, pay attention to whether sustainability is a concern for them. Don’t hesitate to ask directly and get informed. You’ll quickly see if the person has already dealt with the topic and what contribution they want to make to sustainability. Local service providers with short travel and transportation distances are always great.

Now you’ve hopefully gathered many ideas to think about. Even if you only implement a few of these ideas, it’s a complete success for us.

We also work closely with great service providers who have long been engaged with the topic of sustainability. Feel free to talk to us about this.
