Sweet candybars are increasingly becoming a staple in the wedding scene and are hardly imaginable without.

To my delightful surprise, as a guest at a wedding in Italy, I had the pleasure of discovering a whiskey bar alongside the familiar candybar. I’d love to share this experience with you and shed some light on it.

The wedding was last summer (2017), and it was warm with the festivities taking place outdoors. Various whiskey bottles adorned the table, matching glasses were set out, and fine selected chocolates were available to be enjoyed with the whiskey. It’s no longer a secret that the noble drop pairs well with chocolate.

At whiskey tastings or even at trade fairs, this popular combination is already being offered. It’s recommended to opt for dark chocolate with a high cocoa content, preferably enhanced with chili, fruits, or nuts. To experience the full range of flavors, one should first let a sip of whiskey fill the mouth, wait a bit to let the aftertaste unfold, and then let the piece of chocolate melt on the tongue.

It’s all about experimenting and seeing which flavor one prefers the most. The whiskey bar was particularly popular among the male guests after the wedding meal. Those who liked it smoky with their whiskey could delight in the selection of cigars.
